León City Council Highlights the SUSTAIN Project Mobility in Spain
Within the scope of the Erasmus+ KA210-VET project SUSTAIN – Sustainable Tourism and Sustainable Understanding of Integrated Nature, the Spain mobility activity titled “Explore with Climate Consciousness” was held in León, Spain, between 4–8 May 2026.
During the programme, the participating teachers and project representatives took part in meetings, presentations, cultural visits and dissemination activities focusing on sustainable tourism, climate awareness, green skills and the responsible use of natural and cultural heritage.
The project activity was also highlighted by León City Council through its official social media channels. Mercedes Escudero, Councillor for Tourism of León City Council, participated in the project event and welcomed the participants. Her participation showed the importance given by local authorities to international cooperation, sustainable tourism and climate-conscious education.
This meeting created a valuable opportunity to strengthen cooperation between vocational education institutions, local authorities and tourism stakeholders. It also helped participants observe how local heritage, cultural identity and environmental responsibility can be connected within sustainable tourism practices.
The Spain mobility contributed to the professional development of participating teachers by enabling them to exchange experiences, explore good practices and reflect on how sustainability can be integrated into vocational education. The activity also supported the wider visibility of the SUSTAIN project at local and international level.
Through this meaningful cooperation in León, the SUSTAIN project continues to promote a shared European vision for a greener, more responsible and more inclusive tourism future.
