Romania Mobility: Local Food Movement in Sustainable Tourism
The Erasmus+ KA210-VET project SUSTAIN – Sustainable Tourism and Sustainable Understanding of Integrated Nature continues its international learning journey with the Romania Mobility, which will be held in Brăila, Romania, between June 1–5, 2026.
Hosted by Colegiul Economic “Ion Ghica” Brăila, the activity is titled “Local Food Movement in Sustainable Tourism” and focuses on the strong connection between local food culture, sustainable gastronomy, ecological agriculture and responsible tourism practices.
During the mobility week, participants will explore how traditional cuisine, seasonal products and local producers can contribute to a more sustainable tourism model. The programme will include practical learning activities, field-based experiences, workshops and group work designed to strengthen green skills in vocational education.
The activity will also highlight the importance of supporting local economies, reducing food waste, promoting sustainable supply chains and preserving cultural heritage through gastronomy. Students and teachers will have the opportunity to learn how local food traditions can become a powerful tool for sustainable tourism development.
As part of the SUSTAIN project, this mobility will contribute to the development of innovative educational practices in vocational education. It will help participants reflect on how sustainable food management, zero-waste approaches and local gastronomy can be integrated into tourism and food-related courses.
The Romania Mobility will bring together project partners from Poland, Türkiye, Spain and Romania, creating a shared learning environment based on cooperation, cultural exchange and sustainability.
Through this activity, SUSTAIN continues to promote a greener, more responsible and more locally connected vision of tourism education across Europe.
